I taught myself how to make balloon animals, because my young daughter liked them so much. Before I knew it, I was making balloon animals, hats, you name it, at parties, sporting events, festivals, restaurants, and business events. I think I have as much fun as the kids!
Children are not the only ones, who like balloons. Adults get a huge kick out of them! Of course, everyone loves my partner, Bob, the Blue and Gold Macaw.
Storytelling is another great way to entertain! From pirate yarns to ghost stories to exciting tales of Lowcountry history, we ignite the imagination.
We have a wonderful opportunity for entertaining education. Eric brings history alive and makes it fun for the kids. Of course, his authentic costume and Bob, the big blue & gold macaw, immediately capture the attention and imagination of the children. A licensed Charleston tour guide and an engaging storyteller, Eric can customize a fun, educational program for your school, after-school program, or summer camp to include everything from local pirate lore, Charleston history and local ghost stories to balloon art, photos with Bob, and a little education on exotic birds! If you've visited the Charleston Museum's children's exhibit, Kid Story," you've probably seen the "Pirate Tales" video in which Eric and Bob tell the stories of Stede Bonnet and Blackbeard.

"Bob and I are very proud to be part of Kid Story, the Charleston Museum's exciting, new, hands-on, exhibit that teaches children of all ages the rich, cultural and natural history of Charleston and the Lowcountry. Visit the interactive, video storytelling station and see Bob and I telling tales of the pirates, who frequented our coastal waters.”
“When Eric Lavender walks into the room all activities cease, and the attention is totally focused toward the dreadlocks, the swashbuckling outfit and the parrot. His stories of life on the Carolina coast as a pirate come alive and his audience is mesmerized. Eric presented a program for the Edgar Allan Poe library and we are still talking about it. His attention to detail, his life-like appearance and his ability to tell stories are all part of his alter ego. The magic comes alive. He is truly a wonderful teller of stories.” Jeri England, Manager, Edgar Allan Poe Library, Sullivan's Island.
"Island Paradise Balloon Art is excellent for any event. Young and old alike will get a kick out of "Bob" the Macaw. Eric, the Pirate, keeps the fun going with his storytelling and balloon making for kids. Get them for your party, you'll love them!" Gary Griffin, WEZL 103.5
