Fufu

Hi! My name is Fufu, but sometimes Mommy and Daddy just call me Fu. I was born in early 2000. I was taken from my birth mother too early and taken to a Superpetz store. I don't really remember much about it, but Mommy says that I was probably in a plexiglass cage with alot of other bunnies, where lots of people can pick them up and scare them.

A lady bought me from the store and brought me home with her, and I lived on her enclosed deck. Sometimes it was really hot, and when she remembered me she put me in the laundry room where it was a little cooler. The worst part were the kids. They came out and chased and teased me, and so I am still very nervous alot from it. They also had a dog that barked all the time, and that scared me too. The lady hardly ever paid much attention to me after the first few weeks.

One day after I had lived there for a year, Mommy and Daddy came over to see me. The lady had been wanting to find me a new home, and they had heard about me. People never came to see me. Boy, was I scared!

They liked me anyway and said they would take me. The lady couldn't get rid of me fast enough! It was a chilly March evening, and I remember being carried in my cage down to the truck. I was scared the whole ride, but Mommy kept looking at me and talking to me. No one had talked to me that much the whole year I'd lived with the other people! I had a feeling that this was going to be ok.

Mommy and Daddy say that the food the other people gave me wasn't good for me, and I remember that they never gave me nice yummy hay like I get now! Mom says that's why I got sick. They were pretty scared after they brought me home because I wouldn't eat anything. I had what's called GI Stasis, and their last bunny had died from it. I know they were both real worried that I would die too.

Mom and Dad did not want to take me to the vet, because Mom read some stuff that made her think it was the vet's fault that their other bunny died. Mom found a nice lady on the internet named Dana that knew alot about stasis and helped her figure out how to make me better. She also helped her find a better vet!

(More on my story coming soon!)
